- The Historically Black Colleges and Universities Network ("HBCU Network") will be a stand-alone, full-time, 24/7, 365-day a year sports, edutainment and lifestyle network devoted entirely to the four HBCU Conferences (CIAA, MEAC, SIAC, SWAC) and its member and independent universities, launching Fall - 2011
- The Historically Black Colleges and Universities will be equity partners in the network
- Additionally, HBCUs will directly benefit financially from annual rights fees
- The HBCU Network will showcase exclusive live events featuring football, basketball, track and field and other Olympic sports. In addition, select HBCU Classics will also air on the network
- Rounding out The HBCU Network’s programming will be edutainment and entertainment shows that capture the heritage, culture and lifestyle of the HBCU community
- The HBCU Network will be the destination channel for alumni, current and prospective students, and sports fans interested in top Black college sports, edutainment and lifestyle programming
Positioning
- The ultimate network for sharing, presenting, and celebrating the treasures that are uniquely HBCUs
- The network focuses on the lifestyle, culture, accomplishments and challenges of African American students - past, present and future, both on-and-off the field, in-and-out of the classroom
- The network celebrates the best of the African-American HBCU experience through the programming philosophy of education, entertainment and sports
- HBCU Net fulfills a space currently unaddressed in the cable industry
