The problem simply put is the emphasis of sex in relationships, in addition to the flashy cars and bangin' bodies.
Most folks these days have sexual relations before actually knowing the person whom they are sleeping with. Appearances can be deceiving.
It is why women are now scared of the "Down Low Brotha"
It is why men are saving up money for the emergency case of a divorce before they even get married.
It is why the divorce rate is near 60 percent.
Communication and (as the old folks call it) courting are important aspects of ANY romantic relationship.
It actually makes you get to know each other, so that the surprises will be minimum.
But if you're banging uglies from the gate, there will be little left in the relationship when bills, children, and unforseen tragedies come.
