Shanequa,

You don't know how infuriated your message made me. To hear this person dismiss the validity of our history and the significance of the HBCU so easily speaks volumes about....well, we're in a public forum so I'll keep my less than positive descriptions to myself, but I was a Mass Communications major--in fact, I was the manager of the television station my senior year and when I left, things were happnening! Shows were on the air, majors and non majors were active in the studio and people were fired up! If that has died, it is because higher ups failed to give the dept the attention it needs. While I enjoyed how much freedom we were given in terms of running the stations as we wanted to and learning as we went along, the students can not be expected to singlehandedly keep the department afloat. I know many people who came out of that department and are doing their thing in the industry--Cathleen Trigg from UPN9 News, Dawn Jones who is a PR professor to my understanding, Kelle Alston (forgive my spelling Kelle) who I heard works for KISSFM in the area. I don't consider myself at the top of my game yet, but even I'll say I'm up and coming as production coordinator for A&E, The History Channel, History International and The Biography Channel.
Now, I have never met the president , but I know he, of all people, needs to appreciate the legacy of the HBCU and the leaders that have come forth from such an institution. If that is not the case, (and I say if because I don't know all sides and I am not one to point fingers without the whole story) then we (yes, we... because alumni or student, Del State is family) WE are in bigger trouble than we ever expected!!
I know you guys had a town meeting last week.
Can someone tell me what was discussed and the outcome of the meeting?
