: : Athletes and Intellectuals at our HBCUs
We at HBCU's are still segragated when comes to sports. Don't believe me when was the last time you a Black college game on ESPN. Why did it take so long for them to make a deal to show our games. Was it they were interested in our talent or becuase they larger society heard that CIAA conference for example, made a good chunk of $$. How can Howard compete with Duke in recruiting? How can Hampton compete with Maryland for a top basketball recruit who is looking to turn pro? hbcus try to cash in on athletic programs like schools like Georgia, LSU, Stanford but don't have the resources available like them. Why? because we as a people have not taken care of our own. We go to hbcus but once many of graduate financially that is pretty much where it ends unfortunately. We are plagued by mismanagement and bad financial decisions. We have yet to realize just because they look like you doesn't make them honest. We need to admit we have our share of problems and need to quickly address them to be competitive.
When was the last time a HBCU graduate was first in the draft in basketball or football. We need a lot of work and prayer so exorcise those demons keeping us behind.
